Nursery~Infant and Toddler Care

Jesus said “let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” Mark 10:14

Mother and infantOur goal is to provide a secure and loving environment for you and your child so that each of you may grow in the love of Jesus Christ. We want you to feel welcomed and a part of our church through our congregation and Children’s Ministries activities. We realize that you are depending on us to provide quality care to your child in a safe, clean, and nurturing environment, and we take pride in doing so. Our church nursery is cleaned, surfaces are disinfected, and toys are sprayed with disinfectant before use, and carpets are cleaned regularly. Children are an important part of the life and ministries in Prescott United Methodist Church (PUMC). Just as Jesus received and accepted children, we seek to do the same. Jesus said “let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” Mark 10:14

Our Nursery Staff PUMC employs a loving, responsible, and well-trained childcare staff. The caregivers are all experienced, educated in child development and first aid. All employees undergo a background check and screening as a part of the hiring process. For your peace of mind we also have at least two nursery workers present at all times. We will do all that we can to provide the best care possible for your child. Please help us do our best by keeping us informed. We welcome any questions or suggestions you bring.

Loving Care

Nursery care is available Sunday Mornings from 8:30AM - 11:45AM.

Prescott United Methodist Church Nursery provides care to children ages: Infant (birth-18 months) and Toddler (18 months-3 years/Potty Trained). Upon using the nursery regularly, we ask that you enroll your child. You will be given an care sheet, please indicate any medical information and special feeding or care instructions that would assist our nursery staff in providing the best possible care for your child. PUMC wishes to provide your child with the safest and most loving care possible. We also wish to promote understanding between parents and our childcare staff. To accomplish this, we need your support and cooperation with the following guidelines:

Please complete the sign-in sheet located just inside the nursery door. This information is vital, as it will enable us to locate you in case of an emergency.

Parents or guardians must pick up. For the protection of your child we will not release your child to older siblings

We suggest a quick and happy release of the child to the childcare staff at the time of drop off.

After signing your child into the Nursery, you will be given a pager with a number on it, please write this number on the sign in sheet. If a concern arises, the caregiver will enter your pager number on a keypad. The pager will vibrate, notifying you to come to the nursery. Please do not leave the church campus while your child is in the Nursery’s care. Pagers are only operational within a short radius of the church.

Diaper Bags/Personal belongings

Please come prepared with the following items:

1. Extra diapers

2. Wipes

3. Prepared juice cups or bottles

4. A change of clothes

5. A comfort item; blanket, pacifier, etc…

Please do not bring toys from home. Sharing can be traumatic for little ones when it involves a special toy! We have many wonderful toys and activities for your child to enjoy.

Sick Policy

Please do not bring children whom you suspect are not feeling well. We follow the good, old standby rule; all children need to be fever and symptom free for at least 24 hours. Fever or symptom free is defined as not requiring medication to manage their condition. It will be at the Nursery Supervisor’s discretion to accept a child that has an ear infection (or similar condition) and has been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours and otherwise seems to be feeling well. This will be on an individualized basis and only if the child is deemed non-contagious to other children in the nursery’s care.

One final note - we want your child to enjoy coming to the nursery, but we realize that it is not uncommon for a young child to cry or have separation anxiety when you drop him/her off. Stay positive and reassure your child that you will return. Leave the room as soon as you are comfortable and rest assured that our Nursery workers will contact you if your child does not calm down within 15 minutes
